Winter Warning For All Boiler Buyers

According to reports (as well as the manufactures themselves) boiler supplies could run dry as demand surges.

We all know how things have been lately, fuel prices have risen beyond belief, the cost of milk is up, even our beloved KitKats has had a price rise but due to current and recent events even the UK boiler industry and its supply chain have been impacted.

During summer demand is traditionally low, however over the past few months the supply of boilers has been low with most people struggling to get their hands on the boilers needed to install. Come winter this demand surges due to failures and breakdowns… and with the supply issue still not resolved, it’s only going to be inevitable that the supply of gas boilers is likely to face even more disruption as the weather cools and the colder months start to set in.

Around 60% of customer are currently are in no rush and are”Just shopping around for quotes.” The worry is that when these customers come to buy a boiler… it might not be available.

There is no doubt that when winter comes… demand for boilers will inevitably result in issues with supply. Now we can’t predict what going to happen but knowing what the issues with the supply chain there is no doubt in out minds that stock shortage and the availability of the boiler you want at the date you want it installed will be almost impossible. We will see long delays on installs if you have you heart set on a specific boiler (due to supply issues) OR you will end up with a boiler thats ‘in-stock’ (luckily we only install A Rates, hydrogen really top quality boilers – so all our boilers are amazing.)

In recent communication to the industry, Worcester Bosch commented:

“The supply of components, mainly pumps, continues to challenge the boiler industry. Longer lead times may be unavoidable during the busy Winter period, however as a manufacturer we are doing everything in our power to overcome this.”

They went on to say…

“For peace of mind, you may wish to start looking now for a professional heating engineer/ company who can install an A rated Worcester Bosch boiler for you in preparation for the colder months.”

Can’t they just make more boilers if demand is there?

Well yes… but the boiler manufacturers simply can’t get the parts to make them due to the backlogs and production delays post-covid. There are well-known supply issues with several key boiler components including semiconductors (the chips inside the circuit boards), fans and pumps.

Winter has and will always be the busiest time us and others to install boilers, so with a gas boiler shortage on the horizon we are recommending that if you’re thinking about it, act now… don’t hesitate.

Also we’re expecting a price rise too of around 20% on boiler prices, with limited options of choice, and as we said… you may have to wait longer to have one installed.

Don’t hesitate – beat the price rise and the shortage by getting your boiler installation booked today.
