UK Government Grants & Discounts Are Available Over Winter
We know that the looming threat of energy prices has been at the forefront of everyones minds, especially as days are steadily growing colder and darkness is falling a little bit earlier. With that in mind, we thought it important to collate all the government based financial help you can get. See below a list of the grants and discounts available to British citizens over the coming months.
The Winter Energy Bill Discount
Between October 2022 & March 2023 you will be eligible to £400 off your Energy Bills, which will be allocated to you in the form of 6 non-repayable instalments. There is no need to apply to this, as it will be automatically distributed.

Energy Price Guarantee – Price Cap
As you are most likely aware, we were set to have the energy price cap to increase in the near future. The good news is that as of the 1st October, the typical UK household will not pay more the £2,500 a year on their energy bills, for the next 2 years till April 2022. This is automatically applied, and will save households at least £1,000 a year (based on the current energy prices.) This is in addition to the £400 Winter Energy Bill Discount.

Cost Of Living Payment
Households that are on payment support systems such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and Tax Credits will receive a payment of £650 in 2022. Payable in two instalments, around the summer and autumn time. If you are eligible for the cost Of Living Payment you can still receive the £400 Winter Energy Bill Discount.

Disability Cost Of Living
If you are on Disability Benefits, you will receive a one-off payment of £150 in September. This payment is to assist you with equipment and travel costs. This is in addition to £650 Cost of Living Payment if you are eligible.

Winter Fuel Payments
If you are a pensioner then you will be eligible for around £100 – £300 to assist with your heating bill costs. You will also receive a one off Pensioner Cost of Living payment of £300 which will paid as an auto top-up to the Winter Fuel Payment.

People eligible – British Pensioners.
How to apply – Automatically topped-up.
Pensioner Cost of Living
If you are a pensioner then you will be eligible for around £100 – £300 to assist with your heating bill costs. You will also receive a one off Pensioner Cost of Living payment of £300 which will paid as an auto top-up to the Winter Fuel Payment.

Cold Weather Payments
A further £25 a week is available if you are receiving certain benefits over the winter period. This is paid out if the temperature reaches zero or below for more than seven days.

Warm Home Discount
In the month of autumn, around 3 million low-income British households are eligible for a £150 rebate on their winter electricity bills. This will reopen in November 2022.
